Volkswagen Announced Hybrid Versions Cover All Model

Volkswagen has announced that in the future the entire model range will include hybrid versions, some with electrical components such as brake energy regeneration, others with full-blown hybrid systems (à-la Prius), such as the one that, starting from 2008, will be available on the Touareg.

At the moment Volkswagen is working on the Touran Highbrid Eco.Power II, a hybrid concept based on the Touran MPV, which uses a TSI gasoline engine (which is already pretty efficient, especially in the "turbo only version with 122 ps) coupled with an electrical engine from ZF Sachs. This hybrid system should be on the market in 2009, starting with the Touran in Europe and the Jetta in the US, followed by Polo andGolf versions.
